Islam: A Shady History

By Dr. Joaquin G. Molina
& Chris Lee Reyes

A common stereotype among Christians is that church members should not concern themselves with any real life issues. As followers of Jesus Christ, it may seem a bit presumptuous to aim at influencing the whole earth or standing out as luminaries to the world, but that is the legacy Christ Jesus has given the church as one of their primary responsibilities. Way beyond the surroundings of Sunday school or Sunday Morning Worship Service, followers of Christ were called as salt and light to influence the earth and the world at large.

Jesus Said ,
"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew--5:13-14

It has been said "some Christians are so heavenly-minded that they have become of no earthly good." Rather than engaging their culture and influencing the market place, Christians have become totally withdrawn, choosing rather to focus and place their efforts on inward spiritual elements of worship. This may seem offensive and subjective, but to a certain extent, present day followers of Christ have fallen short of their calling to stand up for righteousness in regards to today's current affairs. Christians around the world have a divine responsibility to maintain accurate awareness of the events occurring around the world especially during their time here on planet earth. God calls us to influence the world before we are "trodden under foot of men."

Islam and World Domination:

According to some accounts Islam is the "fastest-growing" religion in many countries around the world. Only a few people today would question the reality that the Islamic movement has ungodly elements within their ranks called "terrorist." These Islamic terrorist are actively engaged in committing acts of violence with the express purpose and intent of spreading their ideology. These acts of aggression and undue influence ("terrorist acts") are directed primarily on those who oppose or withstand the Islamic propaganda and beliefs. Ever since the Twin Tower attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001, Islam has been at the forefront of much controversy. These terrorist attacks caused many people to begin questioning whether, Islam is a peaceful religion" or whether "Muslims are inclined towards forcing their beliefs on others utilizing violence?"

Well, as Christians we should not only be able to answer these questions but we should reply with sound biblical truths and become well versed in the historical evidence and directives of the Islamic tradition, accordingly:

Brief Teaching Of Islam:

The birth of Islam occurs 600 A.D., several hundred centuries after the death of Christ, there came this monotheistic religion founded by a man called "Muhammad." The word Islam means "to submit." Those who join the Islamic religion and adhere to its teaching are known as "Muslim", meaning "submitted one."

Followers of Islam believe that their god "Allah" revealed messages to their founding prophet & leader, (Muhammad) who later wrote these messages down and placed them into a book called the "Koran". The Koran is the total sum of the Islamic Holy book entirely written by Muhammad. All followers of Islam belong to one of two major denominations, either "Sunni" or "Shi’ite." The Shi’ites are primarily of Persian ancestry (IRAN) and speak "Farsi." The Shi’ites are not Arabs. "While the other group of Islamic followers is "Sunni" and they are primarily "Arabs" (Iraq, and Saudi Arabia) and they speak "Arabic."

The 19 Islamic terrorist who attacked America on 9/11 were all Sunni followers of the Islam. By all accounts these Sunni terrorist were led and supported by their Sunni Spiritual leader "Osama Bin Ladin." This leading Islamic Terrorist, considers himself a member of the Sunni tradition. Both groups, Shi’ites and Sunnis have a variety of differences in respect to their laws, rituals and religious customs. Because of these differences, there has been endless bloodshed between the two since the early stages of Islam. In the 1980's, both Shi’ites and Sunnis engaged in a bloody war (Iran & Iraq War) that lasted almost a decade.

The Shi’ites believe that their next leader should come by divine appointment thus they are presently awaiting the 12th Iman or Mahdi, who will cause Islam to be established as the only "true" world dominating religion. The Sunnis do not believe in a divine leader but rather they advocate the naming of a leader based on selective appointment and not necessarily a divine intervention. Roughly 85 percent of Muslims are Sunni and 15 percent are Shi'ite. Nowadays, some of the rivalry between the two islamic factions has been held back due to the common hatred they both have towards Israel, the United States, and Christianity. This common hatred has caused both Shia and Sunni Muslims to declare Holy War or "Jihad"(struggle for Allah) against anyone who stands against their advance in establishing Islam as the one "true" faith.

The President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is a Shi’ite Muslim and has publicly criticized America desiring to bring America down together with the state of Israel. The Iranian President, Ahmadinejad claims that the Jewish holocaust was a total fabrication and that there never occurred such an event. As of lately, the Iranian President has allied himself with many anti-democratic governments such as Cuba, Venezuela, Russia and China. Ahmadinejad desires to elevate Iran’s nuclear capacity and technology with efforts in developing a progressive uranium enrichment program with the expressed intent of creating an atomic bomb to exterminate Israel from the face of the earth.

For these and many more acts of defiance President Ahmadinejad has been condemned by the United Nations. It is believed that a missile from Iranian borders designated to hit Israel, would only take 7 minutes to achieve impact. The acts of violence propagated by Islamic terrorist have included suicide bombings, beheadings, kidnappings, planting explosives in public, publishing death threats, exacting torture, and other nefarious acts too inhumane to mention.

…And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands…
Revelations 20:4

Twenty years ago it would have been difficult to imagine the possibility of beheadings taking place in a modern world. Such barbaric acts seem totally inappropriate for civilized times; nowadays, it is a common depiction of the diabolical strategies Islamic fundamentalist and terrorist groups are taking to strike the world with terror and fear. Nowadays the introductory recruiting videos produced by Islamic terrorist depict Muslim believers beheading their captives without any conscience to human dignity and life. To date there is continual evidence that Islamic terrorist have no deference whom they harm; whether beheading American journalist or attacking innocent civilians or planning suicide bombing in public squares nothing is beyond limits for these sinister extremist.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

While global terrorist groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Courts, and Al-Qaeda are spreading like bacteria; most Americans have become totally inoculated and oblivious to these real threats. In America, the secular and liberal media prefer to feed the frenzy of those languishing after pop culture following reports about Britney Spears’ shaved head and the continued failing relationships of Hollywood movie stars or Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie next adoption.

In carrying the mandate to influence the world as "salt and light" Christians must become more vigilant, sober and informed. The present day affairs which require more significance should be studied, so that all churches can lift up their voices during these prophetic times and no longer staying oblivious or quiet to such imperative realities.

All being said and done let us not loose heart as Christians who love the Lord, rather let us faithfully serve the Lord with all deliberate passion and zeal because the Word of God stands true forever. Heaven and earth will pass away but the Word of the Lord remains steadfast forever! The book of Revelation tells the end of the story.

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation 11:15

Therefore let us proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature, in every nation, in every tribe, and in every tongue. God Bless You!
